Time Is…

The Passage of Time

The Passage of Time (Photo credit: ToniVC)

As some of you know, one of my favorite scriptures is Galatians 4:4.  When the fullness of time had come God sent forth His Son…   It speaks loudly to me because my life has been full of instances where everything had to be ready for the next step to happen.  The fullness concept is that, over the millennia, God has put every person, place, event, and so on, in place, to reach that particular moment on the time line.  He does the very same thing for us.  Every one of our life events is ordered so that as time marches on everything is in place for the next event.  (I’m in no way saying we don’t have choices, it’s that our choices have ripple effects.)

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 complements Galatians 4:4 by being more specific about the order of time.  This Old Testament writing has great relevance to the effect of time.

Ecclesiastes

These beautiful words have much to say about the fact that time effects every part of our lives.  We have to remember that there is a natural order to life events and it’s God’s job to create the sequence.  How would we know what death is without  birth, what weeping is without laughter, what silence is without speaking, what war is without peace?

Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us ‘He has made everything beautiful in its time.’ reminding us that even though we may live in historical period and culture that says, ‘You can have it all and you can have it now!” that’s not God’s plan. The rest of this verse says, ‘Also, He has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from beginning to the end.’  Our desire to understand God’s sequence for our lives is not easily attainable, sometimes, we never do figure out the why’s of life’s events.  Even so,  as we grow and mature, more and more is made known to us.  For me, knowing that God is in control is enough.

hand footWorship Him with the beautiful images and music of In His Time.

Heavenly Father, teach us to wait on You.  Give us the Wisdom to know when the time is full for any of our endeavors.  Control me, Lord.  Give us strength and courage to model You and Your Word in every matter of our lives.  I lift this prayer in Jesus saving Name.  Make it so!

  1. Hi Marie, so True all Scripture that is of God is used by Him but some is not, that is why we need Him to show us where there is man’s error or deception but it is more with the Translating and mostly man’s/ woman’s own understanding of what God wrote but as I said there are errors in all Translations but Scripture will confirm Scripture, the Old Testament with the New and vis – versa and they both confirm themselves, there are absolutely no contradictions in Scripture just error in man’s understanding them but we need guidance from the Lord not just mans in knowing how they gel.

The Dead Sea Scrolls did not confirm the books of the Apocrypha and there is a lot of Mythology in them, it also appears they have just included other recognised Scriptures throughout their books but it would be interesting to have another look. There are other books that were not included in the Cannon of Scripture but are in the Codex which is also over 300 years old, you can read it on line. What is assuring is that God keeps His Truth Pure, Jesus is The way, The Truth and The Light so we Trust in Him not mankind to know, understand and confirm it in our hearts.

I was not worried about the KEV and was not referring to it when I said they had changed parts of it but the other Translation that I used when showing mans error but why was the KJV changed to it anyway, I have noticed this before, things that I have written being changed or deleted but mostly with those who moderate, so who is doing it and how, perhaps I will use this as an example to WordPress. What I cut and pasted after I wrote it and checked the Spelling had KJV not KEV how many other words or statements have they changed without permission and when there is no reason for it. I changed a comment once instead of deleting it that was being used to abuse me to let them know not to do it again and have also corrected spelling errors but not to deceive. Who ever is doing it has changed other peoples too and why do they think they have the right to do this, have they asked me, do I know and Trust them and as I asked before who are they in their arrogance to do so, it is a violation of a persons rights and is evil. This is the same as changing God’s Truth in anyway to deceive not just for clarity, as an example, clarifying that when it says a man in Scripture it also means a woman unless specified differently or using a modern word that has the same meaning. Cults have added their own agenda and deleted many Truths over the years , this confuses people so they don’t Trust the Scriptures and this is why without The Holy Spirit empowering us as Jesus Teaches us all Truth through Him, we will end up confused and doubting and this is the Devils intention.

  2. Hi Marie, thank you you have such a teachable spirit but to be honest I cannot be your Teacher, only Jesus can but He uses each of us in His Body to plant and water the seeds and He will harvest but we are to encourage each other with God’s Truth and if needed to correct error but not by arguing or even agreeing to disagree but seeking to resolve differances with the empowering of The Holy Spirit. 1Corinthians 2: 2-3 & 9-16

When the Scriptures were first written there was no chapters or verses, just differant writers who shared at differant times God’s Truth as they were lead, so James too would have been very long when written but if you find it easy to understand then perhaps there is an important lesson in it for you.

The Scriptuers below confirm what I have been sharing with you, mostly I use the K.J.V but not always, yesterday when I checked my copy it said the K.J.V do you know how and why it was changed to KEV ?

1John 2:26-28 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is Truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.

Colossians 2 :2 -3 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in Love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

1John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is True, and we are in Him that is True, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the True God, and eternal life.

John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.(KJV)

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV)

Psalm 32:8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you shall go. I will guide you with Mine eye.

    • Hi Anne! I love it that He calls me friend, that He is Truth, that He teaches me… When I read 1 Timothy 3:16-17 I know it (the Word) to be totally from Him.

I did some research on the difference between the KJV and the KEV. From what I read they seem to be the same. The date they were printed seems to be the difference between the two. There was a lot of interesting history in the research, some of it very confusing. The older a Bible is the more interesting its structure. Some of the books of the Apocrypha are contained in other books. For instance Bell and the Dragon was sometimes included as part of Daniel. Although, Christianity, outside of the Catholic Church, does not recognize the Apocrypha as Holy Canon it seems the versions before 1666 did. King James did not omit the Apocrypha nor did Martin Luther in his translation. After 1866 none of the King James translations contain any of these non-canonical books. Historically, some of the Kings of both England and Spain, approved printings of the Bible. This may be where the Kings English Bible came from. It may also come from the Kings responsibility to protect and uphold the traditions of the Church of England which would include an official seal of the accepted Bible.

There is a lot of information on Bible translations. That being said, God’s Word is God’s Word. No matter the translation. He simply wants us to know it and live it.

      Blessings to you both! Marie

  3. Sorry Marie it should read the K.J.V not KEV the other Traslation is a modern one which they have also changed parts of from their own original Translation, even though claiming it was inspired by The Holy Spirit but He does not change His mind although He may enlarge on the Truth but the meaning will remain the same.

    Blessings Anne.

  4. Good that you check for accuracy Marie, many are deceived, I Trust in God to lead and correct me which He did in regard to what I use to believe, He has shown me how and why I was in error, I’m very thankful for the wisdom He gave me when I asked.

As you can see below there is an error in a some Translations in regards to the Scriptures alone being our guide, Jesus as we know is the Living Word and Teaches us all things but yes also with the confirmation of Scripture when it is understood by the empowering of The Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. (KEV )

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, ( it ) penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; ( it ) judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

The Greek Scriptures were all written in Upper case and there was no small particles such as… a, it, is, etc in the early Greek therefore the ( it ) in this Translation is wrong, these Scriptures are referring to Jesus Christ the Living Word John 1:1 and other Scriptures.

Also as I shared before the meaning of words change over time and can have different meanings in different languages. We are warned ( see below ) about those who Trust in the Old Jewish Law to save them, although this is not referring to the 10 Commandments they also don’t save us but we obey them willingly in Love, just the many others and their Traditions and man made rules. In this Scripture it is circumcision but it can be food laws or when we worship etc in Jesus Christ we are under a New Covenant not the Old Jewish one and as you can see below the word Concision has a different meaning in English mainly referring to when we use quotes or brief summaries.

Philippians 3 :2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

Concision – Terseness and economy in writing and speaking achieved by expressing a great deal in just a few words.

    • Blessings to you both. I tend toward concise writing because of personal preference. I like to get to the main idea when I’m reading. I think that’s why I like the Book of James. He says it succinctly and quickly and it’s not hard to understand.

I love it that you’ve come alongside as a teacher for me. Awesome!!!

  5. Thanks for understanding Marie and correcting my error and also for sharing your preferences too. I use the King James Version as it is closest to the original Greek and Hebrew Text but God has shown me error in all the Translations that I have used and in Concordances using from the Greek and Hebrew, the meaning of some words change over time and give a different reflection, Commentaries always differ so do amplified Bibles, like all man made tools there is error but I sometimes find them helpful to have the balance between the old and new although I alwaysTrust in God first to confirm.

Jesus gives us full understanding when needed regardless of what Tools we use and I know God keeps His Truth pure, the Scriptures hold great Truth even if some Cults and false Teachers distort them, He gives us His Light His Truth as He leads us into all understanding.

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops …

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you shall go. I will guide you with Mine eye.

And yes He does indeed protect our Soul ( see below) not one of us will be lost as we are to pray for each other and ourselves for His strength, protection and of course His gift of wisdom and other awesome gifts, through the empowering of the Holy Spirit. God does not control the evil in the World, that’s Satan’s work and his followers, we can see this with what happened to Paul and all the early Church members except John although they did try to kill him and Jesus tells us that some of us will be Martyred too now that we are in the end times waiting for His return.

Psalm 97:9-11 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. Ye that Love the Lord, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of His Saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Psalm 107: 8 – 9 Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

    • I know what you mean about different translations and texts. Whenever I’m looking at a new translation I check verses like John 1:1, Luke 2, Psalm 23, Genesis 1 to insure accuracy. I’m also careful about commentaries because that’s just what they are. Man’s thoughts on what God is saying. I listen for the Spirit, too. My husband, Ray, has the gift of Discernment and he is a really great help. Living for Jesus, Marie

  6. Sorry Marie, I wanted to use an American Translation for you but forgot to delete the first Scriptuers I had used from another Translation, perhaps you would correct it please and just leave the one Translation of 1John5:18

    • Anne, I use many translations of the Word. I have come to depend on the Spirit to ‘nudge me’ if there is a problem. Often, I go to my Key Word Study Bible to see what the word or words actually meant in Hebrew or Greek. Quick story – – When I was 12 my grandfather gave me a white, leather bound copy of the NASB. He said there is no better translation. Of, course, my grandpa was my hero and to this day I go to the NASB for greater understanding. Loved that man!!! My translation of choice is the NIV. It would be heavenly to be able to do what Peterson (who wrote The Message translation) does everyday during his Bible study time. That is, read the Word in its original Hebrew or Greek or Aramaic. By the way, I deleted that double scripture. Marie

  7. Very True Marie, God is indeed the Creator of all things that are good and The Scriptures tell us all good things come from Him not evil, He is Love and can do no evil, nor does He afflict us to teach us or to mold and shape us, But He does as we choose to walk in The Fruit of The Spirit with His empowering. To say God does evil too bring good from it the Scriptures tell us us is slander but as you shared Marie God works everything out for good in our lives.

I have shared before Marie some of this Scripture below with you but I know you love God’s words too and it is so wonderful to know He will bring us through what ever the world or Satan who controles this world afflicts us with or even as you said, our own sin, yes we will reap what we sow but when we come to True heart repentance, we will be forgiven and restored, unless they have rejected Jesus, which is the unforgivable sin, they can’t be forgiven if they reject who forgives them.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1John 5:18 – 20 We know that anyone Born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. (NASB)
