Psalm 3

David wrote Psalm 3 during a time of great persecution.  His confidence in the LORD is very evident in this Psalm.  He was able be courageous and strong because He knew the Word and the promises in it.

LORD, I have so many enemies that are against me.  They are saying You will not deliver me.  I know better than that.  You are my shield, my glory, the One who lifts me Peaceup.  When I call out to You, wonder of all wonders, You answer from Your home on high.

When I rest, You sustain me and keep me safe.  Even though it feels like thousands are attacking from every side I will not fear.  You will deliver me by giving them a punch in the jaw.

From You comes deliverance and blessings on your people. (My personal transliteration of Psalm 3.)

I’m taking some time out from sightseeing Marie and catching up on some Blogging but it was interesting to realize although disappointing too, that some who we were told joined up with us, don’t even know they have, seems they mostly don’t welcome comments either and so don’t reply, which means my commenting seems to be pointless, sad though for those who are genuine.

    I do appreciate your well wishes Marie and will be in touch when I’m blogging fully again.

  4. I can always tell when I’m reading a Psalm of David. His true love and total faith in God always shines through… I can see why God enjoyed him so much. Blessings back to you! (stopping in from LOBS)

  5. Very True Marie, David had no doubts God would help him and yes we too can have the same assurance as God’s Redeemed Children. As we know David came to heart repentance after having disobeyed God not only for his Adultery with Bathsheba and for murdering her husband but for holding onto bitterness towards his first wife and so she had no Children by him and also for marrying Pagan woman, which God had told the Israelites they were not to do, it meant that David’s Children were brought up as Pagans too, except for Solomon who was born after David’s repentance, although sadly he followed David’s example and married Pagan woman too and we see the end result in Ecclesiastes. God knew David’s Pagan Children would grow up and turn against him, which they did as we read in the Scriptures.

    Of course we know God does not literally punch someone in the jaw or knock their teeth out, this is symbolic and means in the old Hebrew that they reaped what they sowed, God does not afflict anyone willingly (see below) but Satan does and so they are afflicted when they reject God and bring on themselves their own suffering and destruction, Satan has no restraint and evil gives birth to evil. David’s enemies came to ruin and it’s the same today with all those who reject God and fight against His people, past, present and future.

    Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

    The Jawbone reminded me of Samson, Wow God did indeed give him added strength when needed and He did this with David too, as we see later, his enemies couldn’t stand up against him. The teeth is in reference to their Spiritual Nutrition, as we know our teeth make it possible for us to masticate our food and so we receive it’s Nutrients. David’s enemies as ungodly people remained Pagan and so were starved of Spiritual nourishment and sadly it’s the same today for many of these Nations that survived.
