Happy Birthday, America!

26 of the original signers of the Constitution were ordained ministers and it is likely the rest were Believers in Christ.  They all took an oath to the effect that if they did not uphold the document they were signing into law they would be hanged.  Words in this document attest to the Creator who gave man life and “certain unalienable rights”.   They would have rather died than be at the mercy of a government that did not have their best interests at heart!

For many, prayer in any place but the privacy of home or church, is not allowed.  That was not the intent of the founding fathers.  Part of the reason for the Revolutionary War, in addition to the taxation issue, was that England wanted the colonists to recognize the Church of England as the only Church of America.  Prayer, worship, and the Bible were a huge part of the Revolutionary American’s life.  The Founding Fathers would have rather been hanged than deny their oath…   Our current government would like us to believe that prayer is not acceptable in public…pretty much not at all, anywhere.  Yet belief in the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and the desire to respect and glorify Him in this new country is very evident in the first prayer uttered at the first meeting of Congress.

September 7th, 1774

O Lord, our Heavenly Father, High and mighty King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, who dost from Thy throne behold all the dwellers on earth and reignest with power supreme and uncontrolled over all the Kingdoms, Empires and Governments:

Look down in mercy we beseech Thee, on these American States, who have fled to Thee from the rod of oppression, and thrown themselves on Thy gracious protection, desiring henceforth to be dependent only on Thee, they have appealed for the righteousness of their cause; to Thee do they now look up for that countenance and support which Thou alone canst give; take them, therefore, Heavenly Father, under Thy nurturing care; give them wisdom in Council and valor in the field; defeat the malicious designs of our cruel adversaries; convince them of the unrighteousness of their cause; and if they persist in their sanguinary purpose, O, Let the voice of Thy own enerring justice, sounding in their hearts, constrain them to drop the weapons of war from their unnerved hands in the day of battle! 

Be Thou present, O God of wisdom and direct the councils of this honorable assembly; enable them to settle things on the best and surest foundation. That the scene of blood may be speedily closed; the order, harmony and peace may be effectively restored, and truth and justice, religion and piety prevail and flourish among Thy people. Preserve the health of their bodies and vigor of their minds; shower down on them, and the millions they here represent, such temporal blessings as Thou seeth expedient for them in this world, and crown them with everlasting glory in the world to come. Dear, dear friends, pray for this country, it’s people and it’s leaders.  God clearly said, “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14

This should be our humble and fervent prayer...IF MY PEOPLE…

Heavenly Father, 237 years later, we are still oppressed by our government, yet You have said if we will pray, You will heal our land.  Well right now I’m asking that You hear that prayer from me.  Forgive us, give us strength and courage to stand as Daniel did against a modern Babylon.  Help us all seek your face and forgiveness.  Give us strength and courage to stand for YOU!  I lift this prayer in Jesus’ most Holy and Precious Name.  Make it so!!!

  1. Very wise Marie, I have often used Secular stories etc and added a Christian focus, God’s seeds are everywhere but I’m careful about lyrics and quotes, some are very misleading and evil, like revenge is sweet Hmmmm who for!

    I have been called an Evangelist more than once when teaching woman and children and I still do this but in different ways today . R.E teachers in Australia are allowed to evangelise in Schools but there are those who are trying to stop it in the Government and some others outside the Government who are in a position to help them do so. I have stood against this as an R.E teacher for many years but have been ignored or abused and misquoted and my comments deleted and my letters not answered and this was by some who called themselves Christians, sadly it just shows their own fleshy agenda.

    I often feel called to share with Men in an open format but I would never be Ordained as a Minister in a Church because I would be in Authority over men and to teach them in this role is also in disobedience to what God asks us to do.

    I wrote a Post ( see below ) about St Nicholas (not jolly) I don’t call myself a Catholic even though I was born one, in Truth I don’t call myself any Denomination name, I’m a Christian which to me means Christ within, I’m an Adopted Child of my Abba Father and a Kingdom woman saved by Grace and Anointed by God and I’m under His overall Authority and those who He places in Authority over me.

  2. That is strange Marie, if you click the link below and then scroll down you will see that it is confirmed as True, perhaps you need to write to this School, they may be deceived. The details on my Post are correct, it is not just a story, Truth or Fiction are very careful what they affirm as True, they can be Trusted but not so with another well known website who do these checks, although not often wrong in their findings on secular stories, they do oppose anything Christian. I have written to them more than once with proof they are in error but they don’t correct what they have written, one of their writers claims to go to church, Hmmmm if so, he doesn’t believe in our God of the impossible but then many put God in a box of their own understanding or don’t believe in Him in their heart, just their head, this is how I was many years ago.

    • Anne I have no doubt the story is true. I know it happens all over this country. As a young music teacher I determined to use Christian hymns in my 1st music program. I had to remind both the superintendent of the school as well as my principal at the time that their wouldn’t be songs like Jingle Bells and Jolly Old St Nicholas if Jesus hadn’t started the whole thing. Many parents stood with me on the issue. I used many forms of music in my classes if a Hanukah song would work I used it, if a song by Bach, who dedicated all his work to the Glory of the Lord, I used it. I often took flack for it but as an educator I knew the law…I could not say Christianity is better than Islam is better than Shinto is better than Buddha…I could use it but I could not preach to the children about Jesus. Actually, I have decided that is a good thing. If I had been a Degreed Minister I would be preaching but I am a Masters Degreed teacher and my job was to teach. Our forefathers knew what they were doing when the wrote the Bill of Rights. The Freedom of Religion Amendment was determined so that the state would not decided on a common religion for the country. As an employee of the State of Ohio I could not and would not preach religion in my classes but, any student can talk to his classmates about anything. That’s were people get the whole thing mixed up. We are free to believe in this country as we want and that goes for any age. Lovin’ you sweet sister. Thanks for letting me speak out. Marie

  3. P.S Sorry Marie there was not a Like from you on the Post, I looked at the wrong one. When my friend set the Blog up for me, I couldn’t add the eagle to match the front story, so I changed the theme to this one you have now but I still did not realise I was in America and the eagle is your Symbol although I had seen it before but not the connection and even the name Freedomborn came from God, the names I chose were not accepted, so I prayed and thought about the Scripture in my Post story and it’s message and it just came to me and I liked it, later when I put it in my spell check it just said Freedom, which I like too, we are set free in Jesus when we are Born again.

    It’s amazing and awesome being in Jesus’ arms of Love.

    • I love this theme. It speaks to my heart. Freedom Born is a perfect way to express yourself as a Believer. Ray collects eagles and they are everywhere in our family room, walls, shelves, surfaces, even the floor. His favorite verse is Isaiah 40:31. I really believe the Eagle symbol fits all countries and people who recognize the freedom we have in Jesus. Don’t change your theme. It’s awesome and gives a great first impression of the woman you are. Lovin’ you because of Jesus! Marie

Hi Marie, I just read your Post again, I do that sometimes when a message has spoken to me and as I was reading I thought that you might enjoy a Post I did, you may have already read it as there is a Like but may have missed the connection. I shared this story with many of my friends and contacts even before I started Blogging in America, I did this with others stories too that talked about America, I remember being so excited when I found out I was Blogging in America , someone else set the Blog up for me. We are all Brothers and Sisters in The Lord, regardless of the distance, Jesus bridges the gap with His Love.

    • I love that post. Please allow me to say that even though there is a huge misconception in America that we cannot pray at school or school functions. Students can pray, always could and always will. Teachers, administrators, and other school officials can pray but what we cannot do is make students pray or in any way proselytize to them. Because of this often misunderstood concept we have a whole country of Americans who think it’s against the law. As you can see I can really get on the ‘soapbox’ about that. What breaks my heart the most about this is that satan wins when anyone thinks they can’t call on God for their every need and thought. What a mess we are. Pray for us (U.S.) Anne we so need it.     You too Marie are a blessing dear Sister in The Lord and yes I would enjoy very much to share our Love for Jesus together but be warned… some say I’m over the Top but than that must mean that I’m above the ordinary or the natural, well the Scriptures do tell us this is very True when we are in Christ Jesus-1Corinthians2:916 but I’m sure Marie you would understand what I share having asked for and received God’s wisdom, as you now have His mind too.

    • Oh, Anne, God is so awesome. I really like tea but coffee is my go to choice. Ray and I owned a coffee shoppe called MaggiRaes. It was an awesome place, with many friends and oh, the smell of coffee. Bless your heart we are more alike than ever. As for over the top…I get that way but there is nothing I’d rather do than talk about my (OK our) Jesus. Marie

  6. Yes Marie, this is a powerful statement from God and like all Scripture is for us today, people do not change until they are Born again of The Spirit and are perfected in Love. We all need to come to heart repentance and be Born again of The Spirit, to do this we must put our evil flesh to death as God asks us to by choosing to walk as Jesus did and then we will be empowered to do so.

    Our Love for God is shown by our Love for others, our willingness to put them first, to wash their feet, to be a servant to them, to take an interest in what interests them and to show them respect, these are all the things we want for ourselves but what we do must not just be in words but be in our heart, which will be shown in our actions too.
