Forest Gump

I saw this on Facebook this morning and knew you would like it.  It’s really important to think outside of the box sometimes.  (I have been unable to determine the writer.)

220px-Forrest_Gump_posterWhen Forest Gump died, he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, “Welcome, Forest. We’ve heard a lot about you.” He continued, “Unfortunately, it’s getting pretty crowded up here and we find that we now have to give people an entrance examination before we let them in.”
“Okay,” said Forest. “I hope it’s not too hard. I’ve already been through a test. My momma used to say, ‘Life is like a final exam. It’s hard.’ ”
“Yes, Forest, I know. But this test is only three questions. Here they are.”
1) Which two days of the week begin with the letter ‘T’?”
2) How many seconds are in a year?
3) What is God’s first name?
“Well, sir,” said Forest, “The first one is easy. Which two days of the week begin with the letter ‘T’? Today and Tomorrow.”
St. Peter looked surprised and said, “Well, that wasn’t the answer I was looking for, but you have a point. I give you credit for that answer.”
“The next question,” said Forest, “How many seconds are in a year? Twelve.”
“Twelve?” said St. Peter, surprised and confused.
“Yes, sir. January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd …”
St. Peter interrupted him. “I see what you mean. I’ll have to give you credit for that one, too.”
“And the last question,” said Forest, “What is God’s first name? It’s Andy.”
“Andy?” said St. Peter, in shock. “How did you come up with ‘Andy’?”
“I learned it in church. We used to sing about it.” Forest broke into song, “Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me, Andy tells me I am His own.”
St. Peter opened the gate to heaven and said, “Run, Forest, Run!”

Blessings to you and yours!

Weekend Wanderings

I really enjoy hopping around the blogosphere and sharing my favorite articles and ideas with you.  This week was very busy here on the home front, but there’s always time to read a bit more. Don’t you agree?

supreme-court-546279__180I’ve read Bible Love Notes since I first started blogging.  Gail often shares just the right thought when I need it the most.  Her archive of articles on judging is powerful.  I’ve often thought God’s word is not saying don’t judge.  After all, we’re human.  His word does say “we shouldn’t judge others if we’re using one standard for ourselves and another standard for others.”  (Quoted from the article, Inaccurate, Illogical, Popular.)

carrots-87673_640Ever wonder how home cooks are planning for the mega cook and freeze days.  This post is full of instructions and all around great ideas for spending a day cooking so the stress of choosing meals is a thing of the past.  Check out Freezer Cook on Life’s Little Moments.  It was written a couple of years ago, but it’s definitely worth the time.  There’s also a huge saving in buying in bulk like this.

dishwasher-449158_640I’ve been wanting to make my own dishwasher detergent tabs for a long time.  Having done some research,  I can make tabs for less than 10 cents where the store varieties cost 30+ cents a load.  I’ve read several blogs on the subject and I’ll be using the recipe from One Good Thing.  I’ll let you all know if it’s worth it.

It’s been a great night to watch my Tigers play baseball.   It was a really good game, and  of Freebie Ice Princesscourse we won.   I get a lot of stitching done while ‘watching’ and have almost finished the Round Robin piece I’ve been working on.  I’ll share a picture later on.  This week’s freebie over at Heaven and Earth Designs is Dancing Auroras (37 pages)  and Ice Princess (19 pages).  I’d love to see your finish if you choose to do one of these.  They’re both delightful.

Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.  Psalm 100:3 NIV

Blessings to you and yours!

An Open Letter to Whoopi Goldberg….We most certainly WERE Listening

I have many friends who are nurses, practitioners, doctors, aides and so on. I’ve worked side by side with them as an administrator in some really tough situations. They are intelligent, trained, degreed, loving, kind, caring, and so much more. Unfortunately, certain members of the media think they can say anything they want without regard for others. To all the medical professionals I know, particularly nurses, thank you for all you’ve done for my family. You are awesome!

R.J. Rudd's avatarRebecca's Ramblings

Since I saw The View’s so-called “apology” clip on social media, I’ve given this post a tremendous amount of thought. My first instinct and knee-jerk reaction was to sit down with my laptop and blast them with full force…unload my anger  and outrage onto the page…err…computer screen…so I could purge it and get all of that negativity out of my system. I’ll admit, I even got about a quarter of the way through that piece, when I stopped to re-read it. It was a scathing, searing diatribe that quite frankly, made me ashamed of myself. It sounded like something that the View Crew would say…it was petty, spiteful, angry and distasteful. That’s not who I am as a person, a writer or more specifically, a nurse. Quite frequently, I end my blog posts with a sentence urging my readers to be kind to each other. I am a tireless advocate for tolerance, peaceful coexistence and doing…

It’s Time To Act

By now I’m sure you have seen the pictures of the little boy, Aylan,  from Syria, who washed up on the shore.  His father said the reason he was allowing the picture to be released was so that the whole world would know.

We are experiencing the worst refugee crisis since WW2.  We cannot be silent.  WE CANNOT BE SILENT!

Jesus words on this matter are powerful.  I don’t not want to hear why didn’t you give, pray, help, the least of these without being able to say, “I did!”  Do you?

Matthew 25:31-46New International Version (NIV)

The Sheep and the Goats

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Go to We Welcome Refugees and read through the ways to help.  It really matters!  Act now!

Anne's plea

Heavenly Father, lay open our hearts to this tragedy.  Help us know the pain and need of these people.  Do not let us rest until each one has done something.  Give us the courage to be your hands, feet, and voices during this time of such great need.  Make it so in Jesus name.

Weekend Wanderings

It’s the Weekend!  Here’s what I think you need to do… (After you visit these awesome blogs, of course.)…find a theater and go and see War Room.  Ray and I went yesterday.  This is one powerful movie!  It will move you, make you think, and even shed a few tears.  It’s family oriented, but mostly for couples.  If you don’t leave wanting to make a change in your relationship with Jesus and with your husband…well, there’s a wall somewhere.

gate-quote-768x1024Matthew 7:21 is a powerful, profound piece of scripture.  Not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter heaven.  I’m often led to remember these words when I hear someone “sugar coat” the Word.  Over at Motherhood-Ruckus and Rubies Amanda writes thoughtful and provoking words about this subject.

Freebie Stitchers RetreatAre you looking for something new to cross stitch?  DMC’s Free Friday chart this week is Falling Leaves. It’s beautiful the way it is but one could also change it up by using different colors. If you want to try a more difficult piece Heaven and Earth designs is giving their Stitchers Retreat Chart this month.   Also, I have included a chart called “Blue Snow” that I just designed.  You’ll find it on the …Crafts and Cross Stitch page.

5309678In a very thought provoking post Bonnie at  More Than Just Coffee shares her struggle with those negative voices that can make us doubt ourselves and our abilities.   Her question:  “What are some of your mind games you need to die to, so you can live what God has planned for you?”

Father, I asking for the blessing of an awesome Labor Day weekend for my on-line friends.  Keep them safe and let them know Your presence.  Make it so in Jesus Precious and Holy Name.
