Epic Grace — Book Review

A recent conversation I had with God went something like this…

Marie: Where are the blessings You promised?

God: All around you, Marie!  My grace is enough.

EpicGraceAnd then, in my mailbox, came this book to review for Tynedale House Publishers.   Now is that God, or what?

Every chapter of this book peeled away a layer of my sin and disobedience, revealing more of Gods love, forgiveness, and grace.  To be more precise…Epic Grace.  Through personal life experiences Kurt Bubna leads the reader to a greater understanding of grace.  Proving, without question, that forgiveness is a one on one issue.  Gods ability to love and extend grace is beyond our puny minds comprehension.  Yet, He continues to do just that.

Epic Grace, in each succeeding chapter, opened the door a little further into understanding that there is no life experience, good or bad, that is not surrounded by the Grace of God.  Personal stories, that often matched my own personal experiences, abound in this collection.  Bubna shows the direct relationship between the purpose God has for us and the relationship He wants with us.  I found myself ROTFL (rolling on the floor laughing) at some of his anecdotes and my heart breaking with compassion and empathy at others.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is desiring a closer relationship with our Lord.  As you read and relate to Kurt Bubna’s life walk I guarantee it will leave your concepts of God’s incredible love, grace, and forgiveness, changed.

Blessings to you and yours!

Marie

Psalm 3

David wrote Psalm 3 during a time of great persecution.  His confidence in the LORD is very evident in this Psalm.  He was able be courageous and strong because He knew the Word and the promises in it.

LORD, I have so many enemies that are against me.  They are saying You will not deliver me.  I know better than that.  You are my shield, my glory, the One who lifts me Peaceup.  When I call out to You, wonder of all wonders, You answer from Your home on high.

When I rest, You sustain me and keep me safe.  Even though it feels like thousands are attacking from every side I will not fear.  You will deliver me by giving them a punch in the jaw.

From You comes deliverance and blessings on your people. (My personal transliteration of Psalm 3.)

Blessings to you and yours!

Marie

There She Goes

Some very thought provoking words here. Thanks to my friend Jeanne at Women’s Window.

ship

Thought for the Day . . .

I am standing upon the seashore.

A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.  She is an object of beauty and strength.  I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!”

“Gone where?”

Gone from my sight.  That is all.  She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her.  And just at the moment someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!” there are other…

Content With What I Have

If I were to create a contentment chart it would probably look much like yours.  Sometimes high.  Sometimes low.  Sometimes average.  My satisfaction level varies with the day and sometimes even the hour.  I have all I could ever want or need yet my mind says ‘I want more’.   Look at these words from Hebrews 13.

Hebrews135

Can we all try living this?  Can we develop an ‘attitude of gratitude’ ?  God has so much in store for us.  He truly wants to give us ‘every perfect gift’.   His storehouse is packed full and he doesn’t want to keep it for Himself.  The very next verse says, “The LORD is my help, so I will have no fear.”  (Hebrews 13:6/Psalm 118:6)  He promises to supply our every need…We can count on Him!

My God Is With Me All The Time

Romans 8:31  If God is for us who can be against us.

Lately I’ve been thinking about God’s nearness a lot and remembering the many times and places He has made His presence known to me…

I’ve seen Him in the mountains at sunrise when the mist is rising, the moose is bugling mountainin the distance, and the birds are singing their beautiful morning symphony.

oceanI’ve seen Him on the ocean while sitting on a balcony and watching the incredible blueness of the water and the flying fishing playing on the waves.  I’ve heard Him in the sound of the dolphins chattering in the dark of the evening.

I’ve seen Him in the ocean while snorkeling in the Caribbean.  The colors of the tropical snorkelingfish, the stingray stirring up the sand, and the small brown shark minding his own business, and the myriad of colors in the coral.

jesus_surgeonI’ve known his presence before and during surgery.  Only he could guide the hands of the surgeons so that all that was left of an 8 1/2 pound cancerous tumor is a nasty scar.

thCA8GZJYEI’ve known the calmness of His presence while waiting for 20 days for my Ray to wake from his Traumatic Brain Injury Coma.

blizzardI’ve seen the beauty of His creation in the more than 70 inches of snow we’ve had this year.

symphony-orchestra-183607_640I’ve heard him in the beauty of Beethovan, Brahms, Mozart and Dvorak Symphonies.

My Lord is with me all the time.  How about yours?
