Lending to God

The world we live in values wealth, equality, beauty, power, and so many other things. Proverbs 19:17 points us in a different direction, that of caring about others more than ourselves. We have God’s assurance in these words that He sees and honors every sacrificial gift, including those we make in secret. Although we will not always receive a material return, it will happen. It could be through the joy and peace we have when we honor God by following His word. In helping others, rich or poor, it is a spiritual act of trust, knowing that God will not forget what we do in love.

Slow To Anger

Are you a person of calm temperament? Slow to anger?

The Bible has a lot to say about being slow to anger. “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” (Psalm 103:8) I found 52 (could be more) verses that talk about this subject. Not one of them said don’t be angry.

Anger is a reality in daily life, however, we should think through the best response. Perhaps, even, we should not respond at all. Slowing down and thinking through the possibilities is the better way. After all, it is God’s way.

Abba, Father, control our responses to life’s situations. Let our words be gracious, kind, and supportive.

Blessings to you and yours!
