While reading my Bible this morning I came across Samuel’s words to Saul when God displaced him on the throne for not obeying His command to destroy every Amalekite and all they had. The words of 1 Samuel 15:22-23 are powerful and convicting words for all of us.
22 But Samuel replied,
“What is more pleasing to the Lord:
your burnt offerings and sacrifices
or your obedience to his voice?
Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice,
and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.
23 Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft,
and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.
So because you have rejected the command of the Lord,
he has rejected you as king.”
- Listen gives me the picture of my mother holding my chin between her thumb and forefinger to give her my total attention.
- God is pleased with my obedience and submission
- Obedience is simply doing what is asked of you
- Submission is knowing that someone who truly loves you has your best interests at heart when asking for your compliance.
- Rebellion and stubbornness are sins we often don’t recognize because they are part of the culture we live in.
I am convicted and challenged by these words. Are you?
Blessings to you and yours!
Marie
Thank you Marie for sharing a very important Truth and yes God is pleased with our willing Obedience and Submission, Thankfully we have as Christians what Saul did not have, the indwelling of The Holy Spirit and no Temptation to Sin will be greater than we can bear but if we do Sin before we are Perfected in Love after Heart Repentance Jesus who is our Advocate will intercede for us and we will be forgiven.
But If anyone falls away by rejecting Jesus in their Heart which is the unforgivable Sin, it’s blaspheming the Holy Spirit by claiming His Testimony about Jesus is a lie which some have done even after they have been part of a Church and have heard God’s Truth in Scripture and have also experienced the gifts of The Holy Spirit ( Hebrews 6) they will have no Eternal Hope, how can they be brought back to Repentance if they reject The One whom we are forgiven through and their words and actions will show their Sinfulness and Rebellion.
Christian Love Always – Anne.

Once again, Marie, the power of conviction has fell upon me! When my husband ask for me to be a submissive wife, I thought he meant that I should ‘bow down’ and ‘not be independent’. After reading this, I understand now that he loves me and is only looking out for my best interest. Boy! I sure do have a lot to learn! I love the Lord! I do not want to be a stubborn, bull headed woman! Giving in does not mean giving up! As I walk through the journey of my marriage, and I take constructive criticism from God, I find that I am feeling better about myself. Keep these Fridays coming! I am here to learn all that I can to become a better Christian…and wife! hugs, pamela

Pamela, Ray and I have been married for 45 years. In that time I’ve struggled mightily with these issues. Being the incredibly strong woman that I am I’m sure I will continue to do so. However, I also know that God will continue to convict me with His word. Know that your husband is blessed and honored with your desire to love him in this way. Blessings to you and yours! Marie

Marie, I ask this of you because you have become a wonderful friend of mine please pray for me to be able to find a secretarial job or a way to sell my cross-stitching. We so need the money.
My husband works 2 jobs and I went to college and I feel like I wasted my parents money.
Love, Linda

Heavenly Father, hear Linda’s prayer. Open the doors to finding the right job for her. Give both she and her husband strength, courage, wisdom and peace as she goes through this difficult time. Make it so in Jesus name.
