    but Jesus, can you hear?
    I’m in trouble, so’s my wife
    and death is drawing near.
    I really will not whine, complain
    about the cancers I have got,
    but could you, Godhead, please restrain
    the demons I’ve so lately fought
    that try again to make me feel
    that my life is valueless;
    I’ve been there; they seek reveal
    of the days that were a mess
    and impute legacy’s definition
    that is only worthy of perdition.
