Grab On

“Is my Master satisfied with me?” Does everything I think, do, and say reflect my El Elyon (Most High God) to the world around me?

How I wish I could say yes. Unfortunately we fall into the ‘sin pit’ to easily. However, by reading and studying His Word (to know Him), praying (keeping open the lines of communication with Him), and worshipping (putting our focus on Him) we are able to focus on Him and not on whatever we let put us in the pit in the first place.

Psalm 60:2 tells us, “Save us and help us with Your right hand, that those You love may be delivered.”David knew God so well that he could depend Him and know without question that God would come to his rescue. We, too, can reach up and grab the hand that is always there to pull us out. Grab on!!!

My El Elyon,  Creator of all that is, was, and is to come give us the courage to grab on…not just when we should but because we can.  Open our hearts to Your Word, our souls to worship, and our thoughts to constant communication,  with You.  I lift this request in the Precious Name of Jesus      Make it so!

When We Don’t Know What to Pray

Romans 8: 26-27     Have you ever been in a situation and the only thing that would help was prayer but you didn’t know what to pray for?  I was recently placed in that position and this scripture had a profound effect on me.  It was very comforting to know that since the Spirit lives within me He knows my mind, knows what I need (to ask), and takes it to the throne with words unknown to me. Our God can do what He says He can.  He answers the prayers of the righteous (James 5:16).  He wants us to be sure of His desire to provide for us in all ways.  He loves each one of us and wants each of us to have access to Him.  He has provided this access through the Holy Spirit in us and wants us to communicate with Him.Take time to talk with Him today.  He’s waiting to hear from you…

Father hear this prayer in Jesus’ Precious Name.  My mind is black except for the wisdom to know I must be near You!  Take this hodgepodge of thoughts and make sense come from them.  Only You know what needs to be said and only You can hear my heart cry.  Make it so!

God Is Not Ashamed

Reading Hebrews 11 and discovering new truths about faith led me to these thoughts. First, because of my faith God is not ashamed to be my God. This thoughtful jewel is found within vs. 16. There are other verses in the Bible that talk about me not being ashamed of Him or the Word (Romans 1:16-17, Psalm 25:2-3)but this is the only one I could find that outright says God is not ashamed to call me His own. That’s an absolutely profound thought. All it takes is faith in Him. Nothing more, nothing less.

Secondly, earlier on in the chapter in vs. 6 it says ‘He rewards those who seek Him’. How do we seek Him? In the same way we experience Him, through prayer, the Word, worship, other Christians, and circumstances. What is the reward? The promise of eternal life because we have faith.

The whole chapter is many examples that reinforce vs. 1. My paraphrase – – “My faith gives me the conviction that what I hope for, heaven and eternal life with my Savior, even though I cannot see it, is really there.”

HE knows me.  HE cares about me.  HE has my name written on His hand.  HE loves me.

Ah, Lord, God, You are my One and Only, my Savior, the giver of Eternal Life.  What an honor to be among those You are not ashamed to call Your own.  Oh, Lord, help me never to be ashamed to call You my own.  Make it so!

No Silence

They thought they had silenced Him once and for all

But once and for all the silence was broken

The rocks will cry out (Luke 19:40)

God will be praised (Psalm 115:1)

The One who spoke the world into order  (Genesis 1:9)

Was silent when accused (Matthew 27:11)

His disciples were told to be silent  (Acts 4:18-20)

But because of their willingness to tell The Story

I know my LORD AND I

WILL NOT BE SILENT  (Matthew 10:32)

Heavenly Father give each of us who know You the courage to speak out so others will know You too.  Make it so!

Given a Wedding Dress

Do you remember the hours spent thinking about your wedding dress?  The style, the train, the veil…I do.  I was between my sophomore and junior years in college when Ray and I married.  My sorority sisters (Gamma Omega Kappa) made my dress.  For days 2nd floor, Whitney Hall, was covered with satin and lace.  What a gift…One of my favorite parts of scripture is Revelation 19:6-10.  (In fact I like it so much I have it memorized.)  Verse 8 says, “Fine linen bright and clean was given her to wear.”  We are told in the next sentence this clothing represents the righteous acts of the saints.  One word stood out, clearly for the first time…given.  All of a sudden this portion danced for me again.  I am not earning my ‘wedding dress’ by the good things I do. (Even though I am expected to do them.)  It will be given to me to wear.  It will be given by Jesus who forgave ALLof my sins, covered me in His blood, washed me whiter than snow…I will be covered in the pure, white linen of His saints because of what He did.  Not by anything I can or will do.

Father, I am humbled and totally unworthy to exceept this gift.  Yet, I totally love it.  Praise You and thank You!!!!!   AMEN

The dress above is not the one I wore, just one I really liked.
