Sunday Psalms

Psalm 2

Why do people (and nations) plot and lie against the LORD and His people (us)?

God laughs at them.  He gets angry with them and says, “Who do you think you are?  The One I have chosen is King and is seated on the Throne on My Holy Mountain.”

God said to David, “You are my son: I am your Father.  Ask Me, and you will inherit all of the Earth.  You will successfully defeat your foes!”

And so, leaders and kings, be wise and warned.  Serve the LORD or His wrath will destroy you in a second.

Blessed are all who take refuge in HIM!

Sunday Psalms

Psalm 1

Do not agree with the wicked or follow sinners ways or agree with those who put down others.  The person who knows God’s Word, thinks about it constantly, and lives it, is blessed.

That person will prosper like a tree that is planted by a stream of water, healthy and yielding it’s fruit abundantly, in season.

The wicked will be blown away like a useless corn husk.  Having no use or purpose it is judged as unnecessary and thrown out.

God watches His righteous people.

Blessings to you and yours!

The Great Scare – Book Review

It would seem that even in the future governments are all about themselves and nothing about the people they represent.  And so this book begins with a concept that is so alarming and acceptable that one finds it easy to think it could happen.  With the twisted morals of politicians and the reporting antics of the media, civilization is destroyed.  Those left are forced to live underground, connected by a maze of tunnels throughout the country.

James and Lee, librarians from the underground city of Peopleville, are thought to know all there is to know about everything that is going on in their community because of their job/position.  When treasured objects start coming up missing they are the first that are called upon to solve the mystery.

So what do we know?  A woman’s prized possession, a family’s cat, an old man’s voice box, the pastor’s 1611 King James Bible (more than 300 years old), a family, Christmas decorations (yes, 300 years in the future), all missing.

And then, of course, there was the time machine…

All in all… well, I read the book.  I found it to have elements of deja vu… perhaps like I’d read it before with different characters…Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Pied Piper of Hamlen, Alice in Wonderland…

However, there was some truth to the story.  We must stop allowing ourselves to be led by everyone and everything around us.  Just saying!

Blessings to you and yours!

Road Trip With My Bestie

What an awesome, powerful, thought-provoking, convicting week-end.  My bestie and I spent Friday and Saturday in the company of Priscilla Shirer.  Imagine, two days in the company of 5,000+ women (and 2 brave men), worshiping, praying, and building trust in the One and Only.

Now, when I say praying I’m not talking about your run of the mill prayer times where we ask that our words and thoughts are pleasant in His ears, that He will bless and heal our friends and family, that He will keep us safe and give us wisdom and courage.  That was there, of course.  I’m talking about the kind of prayer that covers all the bases and gives no one any doubt that we were in His Presence.  All turned in prayer requests (Yes, all 5000+!) on the cards provided. We were then encouraged to take a prayer card the next day (They had been prayed on overnight.) and commit to praying for that person for the next 7 days.  Is that some powerful praying or what?

The conference was divided into 3 segments with music by Tony Evans opening each.  That man has some serious vocal ability.  Beautiful voice!  Another thing about the music — Imagine if you will 5000 women’s voices, praising God for those who accepted His invitation to join the Forever Family, singing It Is Well With My Soul a capella.  Each time I hear a large group sing a favorite hymn I know in my heart what heaven sounds like.

So, here are some things from my notes:

  • Scripture for the event was Luke 9:1-17
  • The cure for your exhaustion is intimacy with Jesus.  After all, He said, “Come away with me.”
  • A recipe for ministry.  First, we are called as the disciples were.  Second, we are given power and authority, as the disciples were.  Lastly, He does the sending, as He did the disciples.  Ministry of any kind is and must be about Jesus.
  • Resist the urge to put yourself in the ‘spotlight’ until He says go.
  • If there was a perfect church and you showed up, it wouldn’t be perfect.
  • Re: 5 loaves and 2 fishes – You don’t need more than His blessing on what you already have.

  • Hearing God is not about newness it is about nowness.
  • Those who don’t expect to hear from God, WON’T!  AW Tozer
  • God is omnipresent!  (I know you already knew that.)  He showed up for Gideon, Moses, David, Simeon, etc.,  and He shows up for us!
  • His glory is ever-present, yet, we often don’t see Him.  In this country we have so many resources, like Bibles, CD’s, DVD’s, books, the Internet… we fail to take the time to look for Him.

And that, dear friends, is what a terrific weekend looked like.

Blessings to you and yours!

Marie

Tea Time #2

I love to have friends over for tea!  Really, I do.  It’s so much fun to decorate a table, pull out my best china, and talk around the table about, well, just about everything.  I’m sure you can imagine the things I’ve heard over tea.  (I do have a rule about this type of talking, and I make sure all at the table know it,  if it’s said here, it stays here.)

Tablescapes for tea can be as simple or elaborate as you want.  Check out a few on my Pinterest board. (Click on Tablescapes to see ideas or Pinterest to see my whole page.)  There are some great recipes and teacups there, too.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                It’s rare for my guests not to have anything to talk about, but just in case I have a few Conversation Cards at hand.  Here are a few you can make for yourself and your guests.

One of the best things at any tea party is the cute little sandwiches.  Don’t you agree?  There’s nothing like cucumbers and cream cheese, or thinly sliced salmon and radishes, or how about Kentucky Benedictine.  The first time I had a Kentucky Benedictine Roll-up I thought I had finally made it to the great Heavenly Banquet.  Seriously that filling tops the list in delicious ‘sandwich’ spreads.

When all is said and done there is nothing like good friends, good food, and good conversation.

Blessings to you and yours!
