Sunday Psalms 3

Psalm 3

Father, God, answer my prayer. You have made me right in Your eyes. You have calmed my fears. Forgive me and hear my prayer.

Why do so many hate me? Will they ever stop listening to the lies and dishonesty of the know-it-alls?

God knows His children! He hears me when I call.

Think about why you’re so angry. Don’t always say what you are thinking. Do not sin!

Repent and trust God!

Shine down on me! Let me know Your goodness and joy.

In my sleep, You alone protect me. You give me peace!

Sunday Psalms

Psalm 2

Why do people (and nations) plot and lie against the LORD and His people?

God laughs at them. He gets angry with them and says, “Who do you think you are? The One I have chosen is King, seated on the Throne on My Holy Mountain.”

God has decreed, “You are my Son (Jesus), I am your Father! All I have is Yours. You will use an iron rod and dash them to smithereens. You will win the battle!”

And so, leaders and kings, be wise and be warned. Serve the LORD or His wrath will destroy you in a flash.

Blessed are all who take refuge in HIM!

Sunday Psalms – Psalm 1

Psalm 1

Do not agree with the wicked or follow a sinner’s ways or agree with those who put down others.  The person who knows God’s Word, thinks about it constantly, and lives it, is blessed.

That person will prosper like a tree that is planted by a stream of water, healthy and yielding its fruit abundantly, in season.

The wicked will be blown away like a useless corn husk.  Having no use or purpose it is judged as unnecessary and thrown out.

God watches His righteous people.

Blessings to you and yours!

Marie

Pray Always and Often!

What was the last prayer God answered for you? Do you remember? Are you listening for His voice during and after your prayers?

He hears us when we pray. He knows His plan for us but He wants us to talk with Him about it and listen for/to His answer. (1 John 5:14) He listens carefully when we call. (Jeremiah 29:12)

We are to pray fervently and often. Set aside a specific place and time to spend in prayer. (Matthew 6:6) Put it on your calendar. Tell anyone who is near not to bother you. Take Your Bible and pray back what you are reading. Intercede for all who need praises or problems taken to God.

Our words are very important to God. If we don’t know what to say or how to say it, He still hears us. Paul, in Romans 8:26, tells us the Spirit will help us. He, the Spirit in us, takes our prayers to the Throne with ‘wordless groans’. Jesus told the disciples to be careful and thoughtful with their words. Not to just babble on and on but to focus on what they are saying and asking. (Matthew 6:7-8) Then He gave them an example of how to pray:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
 Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Matthew 6:9-13

Friends, keep praying. It matters now, perhaps more than ever. Take every thought, plan, idea, problem, desire… to God. He wants to hear you. He wants you to hear Him!

Abba, Father, hear our prayer! You know all we need before we even ask. Guide, direct, provide, and protect us now and in the days ahead.

COME TO ME!

Sometimes it’s just too much! Sometimes I can’t bear the insanity of the world any longer. Sometimes I’m so tired, so overwhelmed, sometimes I just don’t understand…

This simple verse gives the simplest of answers. Come to Jesus! That’s it! That’s all!

It’s just not possible to do it all ourselves. This verse assures us that there is Another who really wants to help, to comfort, to guide.

Each morning I read a Psalm and then I pray it back. This morning it was Psalm 23. I find this one of the most calming, restful, and supportive of all the Psalms.

My Shepherd, You are all I want. All I need.
You help me make the right choices.
When darkness surrounds me I do not fear because You are protecting me.
Those who would harm me see all You do for me.
My life will always be filled with your loving kindness and forgiveness.
Your house is my home throughout all eternity.

Abba, Father, You know what life is like right now. Open our hearts to Your Word. Give us Your love! Let us know Your Holy Presence!
