Practice — Haiku

I wonder how many hours of my life have I sat at the piano? Sometimes making music. Sometimes staring at the keys because the music wasn’t happening. Practicing the same phrase or measure over and over until a measure of perfection was achieved. Always enjoying the good and the bad of it all.

What a blessing, this talent God has bestowed.

Blessings to you and yours!

Musical Mondays

I haven’t done a Musical Monday post for a while.  These are some of my favorite songs right now.  If they’re not on your playlist they should be. If you don’t have a Youtube account click on the word (Youtube) and it’s easy to create one.

For God so loved the whole wide world
Sent His only Son to die for me
Arms spread wide for the whole wide world
His arms spread wide where mine should be
JESUS CHANGED MY DESTINY!

You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame

I hope you enjoy some quiet reflection with these beautiful songs.

Blessings to you and yours!

Musical Prayers

Do you include music in your prayer time?  I do.  Years ago I heard a Bible Teacher say she used her dog walking time as Praise time by singing her favorites while she walked.  I thought, Hey! I can do that.  Click on the picture to enjoy some of my favorites:

Here’s another idea for your quiet time.  Copy your favorite hymn lyrics and pray through them.  Example:

On Bended knee I come, with a humble heart I come, bowing down before Your holy throne.   Lifting holy hands to You As I pledge my love anew.  I worship You in spirit.  I worship You in truth.  Make my life a holy praise unto You. (On Bended Knee I Come by Don Moen)

(Prayer for On Bended Knee)  Heavenly Father I come before the Throne, bowing before Your majesty and greatness.  I lift my hands in praise and worship, giving You all of me.  My life.  My love.  My everything. Lord, You are all the truth I need.  Fill me with Your Spirit.  Only You are worthy of my praise and I give it will all my heart.

Or, choose some of your favorite solo guitar, piano, harp, orchestra, whatever instrument(s) you like best, put your earbuds in, sit in your favorite chair or place, and BE STILL.

Monday Music Mash-Up

I have always wanted to see/hear a flash mob.  Whether it be music or dance I would love every moment.  Unfortunately, I’ve never been at a mall, in a restaurant or on a plane when one happened.  I guess my timing just hasn’t been right. So I listen and watch everyone that comes out on Facebook.  Perhaps one day…

Honestly, you can find videos of them in every musical and dance genre.  Check out the ones I’ve included here.

download (1)Riverdance in Australia https://youtu.be/7auErQnU6fU I was transported to a world of Celtic imagery in both Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.  Can’t wait to see Heartbeat of Home.

05_m40_maastricht-modiCarmina Burana https://youtu.be/PJNp5UKRtbQ One of my favorite classical pieces of all time.
