Keep It In Mind!

Do you have Bible verses firmly planted in your mind? What was the last Bible verse you memorized?

I really hope you have an arsenal of memorized Bible verses ready to use every time you need them. There are 31,102 to choose from. Every one of them was breathed by God onto the pages of His Word to be used by us in every situation, circumstance, and aspect of our lives.

Why should we have God’s Word ready in our minds at any moment? David says it very simply in Psalm 119:11 — “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” Yes, David sinned (see 2nd Samuel 11 through the end of his life) but if he hadn’t known God’s word, and hidden it in his mind (heart), he wouldn’t have known it was a sin to do some of the things he did. He also knew he had to ask God’s forgiveness.

These simple words, written and prayed by David, and passed on to us show perfect repentance. David penned them when he was made aware of his sin.

Which of the 31,102 verses will you choose to keep in your mind?

Abba, Father, help us know and use Your word in every activity and event in our lives. Show us what You want to have firmly planted in our memories.

Every Day Matters

What are you doing today?

How do you spend your days? Is every moment busy with a to-do list that is stress-producing and overwhelming? Do you know we are being held accountable for every minute we’ve been given on this earth?

Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-17

We have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Asking God to show us how to live each day filled with wisdom and not foolishness should be part of our prayers every day.

Abba, Father, grow us and show us the purpose You have for our lives. Help us live each moment with Your Word as our guide.

Listen

Are you listening?

The sentence Jesus spoke most often was, “He who has ears, let him hear.” He said it 7 different times in different situations in the Gospels. In the Revelation, He says it 7 more times. Each time I read it I think of Jesus taking my chin and saying ‘listen to Me’!

My mom used to do that and it meant to listen and look at me. It meant this is important and I want you to hear exactly what I’m saying. Jesus was (is) doing the very same thing.

How do we do that? How do we hear His voice amidst the noise all around us?

Henry Blackaby, in his study, Experiencing God, gives us 5 easy to remember ways to tune in to his voice. We can hear Him through His Word, prayer, worship, other Christians, and in the world around us through nature and all of life’s situations.

We have to purposely listen for Him in everything we see, hear, and experience. We must focus totally on Him. He is speaking right now. Listen!

Abba, Father, open my ears, eyes, and mind to the sound of Your voice. I am listening!

Forever Forgiving

How often must I forgive?

Do you find yourself asking forgiveness for the same thing over and over? Do you find yourself forgiving the same thing in someone else over and over? That’s actually what this verse is about.

Peter asked Jesus how many times he had to forgive his brother and Jesus replied, “I tell you not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Jesus was saying forgiveness is not a one-time thing. He wants us to forgive as many times as it takes.

We are to forgive just as God did and does. Over and over again!

Abba, Father, remind me of Your kind of forgiveness every time I’m tempted to be unforgiving. Give me a kind, compassionate, forgiving heart.

What D’ya Know!

I Know…

What do I know?

I know that the sun will come up every morning until Jesus returns and provides all the light we need.

I know that I am loved by the Lover of my soul.

I know I am redeemed, equipped, gifted, and forgiven.

I know I am given all that I need for a good life because God’s Word is alive and active in me.

I know I am a child of God and that I can go to Him with every joy, hurt, and question in my heart.

I know that He knows you and me! Do you?

Abba, Father, I know You are all You say You are! Help me to be all You want me to be.
